This document sets out the terms governing your use of HepB&Me® mobile application (App). This mobile application was developed by Deep-C Vision in partnership with the Barts Liver centre, the blizzard institute, Queen Mary University of London. HepB&Me® App is being run by Queen Mary University of London. These terms and conditions apply to all users of the App. In using the App, you confirm that you have read and understood the information herein. HepB&Me® App is a tool which allows submission of information and does not store personal details. We provide additional help links for information purposes only.
1. Information We Collect:
a. Personal Information: We may collect personal information such as your email address, Date
of birth, Gender at birth, country of birth and residence and other relevant details only when you voluntarily provide them.
b. Health Data: HepB&Me® App collects and processes health-related data, including but not limited to Hepatitis B and delta viral serology levels, antiviral treatment, liver function levels, family history relevant to hepatitis B disease, fibrosis scores, Alcohol intake and Body Mass Index.
2. How We Use User’s Information:
a. We use the information collected to provide and improve HepB&Me® App's features and functionality.
b. Your health data may be anonymized and aggregated for research, analysis, and improvement
of HepB&Me® App..
3. Sharing Your Information:
a. No external collaborators are working with HepB&Me® App study and shall have no direct access to
HepB&Me® App database. Users who consent to participation in HepB&Me® App study will be allocated a unique user ID. Any sharing of data outside of QMUL, following successful application will contain only the unique user ID allocated to each person. As such, personal data has been converted into a pseudo-anonymised form which does not amount to a disclosure of personal data and individuals’ identities are fully protected. This is the case even though QMUL, as custodian of all the data, has the ability to link this unique user ID back to the participants details. We do not sell or share users’ personal information with third parties without their explicit consent, except as
required by law.
b. Anonymized and aggregated health data may be shared for research or analytical purposes.
4. Data Security:
a. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data. However, no method of
transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
4.1 Securing your devices
It is your responsibility to keep your devices secure; this includes keeping your log-in credentials safe and secure. Should you feel your password has been compromised you can contact HepB&Me® App study team to advise and discuss.
5. Your Choices:
a. You can choose not to provide certain information, although it may impact HepB&Me®
App's functionality.
b. You can opt-out of data sharing for research or analytical purposes by contacting us at
HepBandMe@qmul.ac.uk.
6. Third-Party Services:
a. HepB&Me® App may integrate with third-party services for data collection. Your use of those services is subject to their respective privacy policies.
7. Data Deletion Policy
a. User-Initiated Data Deletion: Users can delete their personal data by using the “Terminate Account” feature available within the app. This option allows you to permanently delete your account and all associated data. Once initiated, the deletion process is irreversible.
Steps to Delete Data:
1. Navigate to the Settings section in the app.
2. Select the Terminate Account option.
3. Follow the prompts to confirm the deletion of your account. We will ensure your data
is removed from our servers within 30 days
b. Scope of Deletion: Once your account is terminated, your personal data will be permanently removed from our live servers. Some data may remain in backup systems for up to 30 days before being completely purged.
c. Third-Party Services: If your data has been shared with third-party service providers as part of the app’s functionality, we will take reasonable steps to ensure they also delete the data in accordance with our policies.

8. Compliance with Laws:
We comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding the protection of your privacy and data.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy:
We reserve the right to update or change this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes will be effective upon
posting the updated policy on our website.
10. Copyright:
We are offering you this App to use for your own personal use without cost, but you should be aware
that you cannot send it on to anyone else, and you’re not allowed to copy, or modify the App, any part of the App, or our trademarks in any way. You are not allowed to attempt to extract the source code of the App, and you also should not make derivative versions or translate the App into other languages. The App itself, and all the trademarks, copyright and other intellectual property rights related to it belong to Queen Mary University of London HepB&Me® Privacy Policy V1.0 06022501.
